NAMI Basics is a free, six-session program for parents and other caregivers of children and adolescents (ages 2 - 18 or up to 21, if still in high school) living with emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenges. The NAMI Basics course is taught by trained parents or caregivers who have "been there."
Topics covered and discussed in the program:
- Family's emotional reactions to the trauma of mental health disorders.
- Strategies for handling challenging behaviors in children and adolescents.
- Personal record keeping systems that are proven to be effective for parents/caregivers.
Participants are asked to make every effort to attend ALL 6 weeks
