In order to qualify for scattered site homes and apartments, an individual must have a chronic mental illness and be capable of living independently in the community with the appropriate support services. Also, NAMI Delaware must verify that the applicant’s income is in the “very low” category and a criminal background check is made. Two of the apartment buildings are dedicated for occupancy by persons who are homeless and also are mentally ill. Admittance to a supervised group home requires the approval of the Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health and the Service Provider who manages the home. These homes are intended for residents who do not currently have the ability or skills to live more independently at the present time but who do not require the care provided in a hospital.
Housing Applications are available at the NAMI Delaware office at the address below, or by clicking on the link below:

The completed application should by returned to the above address. Once the application is received, you will be interviewed by NAMI Delaware Management personnel and will be requested to sign authorization forms so that current income can be verified and a criminal background check can be performed. Once all these procedures have been completed and cleared your name will be placed on a waiting list for the housing in the locations in which you have expressed interest.
