NAMI Delaware News
NAMI Delaware partnered with the Veterans Administration in Wilmington and the New Castle County Police Department to offer the third Veterans Response Team (VRT) Training at Wesley College in Dover on December 10 & 11. This training provides Delaware police officers with techniques, strategies and resources to help veterans in our community experiencing a crisis. Participants are themselves Veterans who are also Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Trained officers. A graduation was held the afternoon of December 11th and Judge William Witham of Superior Court offered congratulatory comments and presented graduates with a token of appreciation, a challenge coin, from the Court. Officers received their certificates from Deputy Chief Paul Woodland of the Department of Veterans Affairs Police (Wilmington) and a VRT uniform pin from Captain John Treadwell of the New Castle County Police Department. For more information about the VRT program, please contact Dr. Josh Thomas, Executive Director of NAMI Delaware.
