NAMI Basics is a free, six-session program for parents and other caregivers of children and adolescents living with emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenges. The NAMI Basics course is taught by trained parents or caregivers who have "been there."  NAMI Basics for Professionals is now available - serving the unique needs of professionals who work the young people living with mental health challenges.

Topics covered and discussed in the program:

  • Family's emotional reactions to the trauma of mental health disorders.
  • Strategies for handling challenging behaviors in children and adolescents.
  • Personal record keeping systems that are proven to be effective for parents/caregivers.

NAMI Delaware programs are partially funded by and part of the system of services offered by the Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health (DSAMH).
