Call for Community Artists

NAMI Delaware invites artists of all backgrounds to participate in our upcoming art competition and exhibition, Light in the Darkness: Faith and Mental Health Through Art. This event aims to explore the profound connection between spirituality and mental health, showcasing how faith can illuminate the path through mental health challenges.

Event Details

  • Submission Deadline: June 30, 2025

  • Exhibition Date: July 26, 2025

  • Location and Reception: To Be Announced in May

Eligibility

This competition is open to:

  • Individuals aged 13 and above

  • Artists from all faith traditions and belief systems

  • Both emerging and established artists

Accepted Mediums

We welcome original works in the following formats:

  • Painting (oil, acrylic, watercolor)

  • Drawing (pencil, charcoal, ink)

  • Photography

  • Mixed media

  • Digital art

  • Sculpture

  • Collage

Submission Guidelines

To submit your artwork, please provide the following:

  1. High-Quality Image: A clear, high-resolution image of your artwork.

  2. Artwork Details:

  3. Artist Statement: A brief description (150 words max) explaining how your work relates to the theme.

Selection and Exhibition

A panel of judges comprising artists, mental health professionals, and faith leaders will review submissions based on:

  • Relevance to Theme: How well the artwork embodies the intersection of faith and mental health.

  • Artistic Merit: Creativity, originality, and technical skill.

  • Emotional Impact: The ability of the piece to evoke thought and feeling.

Selected artworks will be displayed at the exhibition on July 26, 2025. Artists will be notified of their selection by [Insert Notification Date].

Awards will be presented in the following categories:

  • Best in Show

  • People’s Choice

  • Youth Excellence (ages 13-17)

Welcome! Thank you for your interest in presenting at the NAMI Delaware 2025 Pathways to Hope Art Contest scheduled for July 26th in the Greater Wilmington area.

This Art Competition and Exhibition invites you to explore the powerful intersection of faith and mental health. Through creative self-expression, artists offer a window into often unseen experiences—sparking conversations, shifting perceptions, and inspiring change.
We each carry the potential to be agents of transformation, guiding how our communities understand, respond to, and envision mental wellness and spiritual connection in a more compassionate future.

Please review the following before submitting:

Submit your artwork (any medium is permissible, an image will need to be submitted or a video to be considered) no later than 5:00 PM on June 30th, 2025. We will review all submissions and hold a live award ceremony at the Showing on July 26th.

Please do not submit your application by email; only those submitted here will be considered for the judging. We are looking forward to reviewing these incredible contributions to our world, where art meets faith. Until then, be well. Thank you..

- Artwork/Video must not be promotional and should use inclusive, respectful subject/language.
