SALARY & BENEFITS

  • Salary: $100,000
  • Work location: In office, working from Wilmington and Georgetown offices, traveling statewide for meetings and events, with remote work opportunities

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

NAMI Delaware is seeking our first Deputy Executive Director/Chief Operating Officer to help lead our restructured nonprofit organization, which serves thousands of people each year experiencing mental illness.

This is a senior leadership role. We are seeking an experienced leader of people, programs, and processes in a highly dynamic period for our organization. You will be the second-in-command and act on behalf of the CEO/Executive Director in their absence. You will serve as our principal policy advisor and front line advocate, provide counsel on highly sensitive and politically complex issues, and run our day-to-day operations.

YOUR BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10 years of experience leading teams
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree; degree in relevant field preferred

YOUR CHALLENGE

The Deputy Executive Director/Chief Operating Officer position is a new role created as NAMI Delaware undergoes restructuring to improve our operations and efficiency. Your specific areas of responsibility will include:

  • Developing operational guidelines and processes
  • Administering contracts and grants
  • Directing logistics for all events, meetings, and classes
  • Leading staff and ensuring performance goals are met and set
  • Ensuring smooth office and administrative operations
  • Overseeing human resources functions, including onboarding, leave tracking, time approvals, and employer compliance
  • Developing and managing positive relationships with elected and appointed government officials, other organizations, and stakeholders
  • Leading our housing programs and facilities functions

You will guide the organizations in the following areas:

  • Fundraising and donor management
  • Program activities such as outreach, volunteer coordination, marketing, and issues management
  • Improving business processes and plans
  • Updating and managing marketing materials

You will assist with areas such as:

  • Designing and implementing program evaluation strategies
  • Preparing grant proposals and state contract proposals
  • Developing materials and strategies for our fundraising campaigns
